Earlier today I was reminded of how I do through these creative “phases”. For months I will be into a certain craft, quit that and move onto another craft. For a long while I drew every day. I quit that for awhile and for 3 years or so I was into graphic design. Movedo n from that to crocheting. I still love drawing and graphic design so much but I love doing new things. I have always wanted to learn how to make pots the old school way.

I made some black hand warmers today that I posted on Etsy. I really like these. I need to make 3 of everything so my shop can stay supplied. It’s hard to find time to crochet though. Work is getting busy so I don’t have time to crochet between calls. When I get home I am too tired to do anything. I will be crocheting a lot more though.

You guys will be so proud of me. I started college this semester! I feel like I’m so behind even though I graduated 2 years ago. Since I work full time I don’t have time for a bunch of classes so I’m just taking math for now. This summer I will take my next math class and english. I’m so excited! I have a sense of pride now. I am finally doing something with my life

My ex-boyfriend Luke just got back from Iraq so I’ve been hanging out with him. He’s a great guy but his base is in El Paso, TX. We tried the long distance relationship thing and it didn’t work out well at all. Perhaps in the future we can be together again but right now we both have to focus on our own lives. I need to go to the library tomorrow….hm….

Croutons are just stale bread

Did you know that all a crouton is made of us stale bread? I seriously did not know that. Where the heck have I been? Like most of the United States, I work 40 hours a week with my 2 off days every week. Am I the only one who feels like there is never time for anything? On my day off all I do is sleep and when I wake up I’m bummed because I know I have to work the next day. Fun times, fun times.

Today I crocheted this super soft purple fuzzy arm warmers. This is my first set of arm warmers so they look kind of different than they should. I’m going to sell them on Etsy for cheap because they are my first pair so obviously aren’t perfect. I sold 2 more things recently! I was so happy. I was about to give up on Etsy too(good thing I didn’t).

This summer I went to college to sign up for my classes and when the time came to go to school I decided I didn’t want to. On Wednesday I found out that if I don’t go I am still responsible for 50% of the tuition. The college office closes at 5 so I couldn’t go on Wednesday or Thursday due to work. Friday was the lasy day for me to go and they closed at 4:30 so I begged my boss to let me off early. He did and I left work at 4. The school is downtown and I wnt a different way and got lost. Not really lost, but downtown has those one way streets so I had to go in a huge circle and try to find my way. To my dismay I got there 10 minutes late and they had already left. Now I am faced with a difficult decision. Should I fork out $500 to not go to school, or should I go to school even though they jacked up my schedule, for free? My job will pay my tuition so JOY. I’m just gonna go, it’s only 4 mts and I’d rather not throw my money down the drain.

Onto another topic…..my ex boyfriend,Luke, just got back from Iraq so I spent time with him on Tuesday. We had an awesome time together but he left Tuesday night to go to IL to see his mother. He said he is going to come back down here for a few days to spend some more time with me before he goes back to the army base in TX. Needless to say, I can’t wait.

I recently posted a thread in the “Ideas” forum of Etsy. It was to have a default image on the “mature content” because if I am surfing through the recently listed at Etsy and something inapppropriate shows up then I can get fired. I understand and respect this policy however I do not agree with it. Most of the Etsians who responded where kind, there were a few who were not. Some of them said “shouldn’t you be WORKING when you are at work”. People can be so ignorant sometimes. After reading these, and responding to them I figured I would make a post that describes what I do for a living.

I work at Charter Communications, a world wide internet service provider. I absolutely love my job. I get paid $12 and hour to talk on the phone. I am only 19 years old and I make more money than my boyfriends mother. It gives me a great sense of accompolishment and pride to know that I have a damn good job. Here is the simple version of my job. I sit at my computer all day surfing Etsy , talking to people on IM and playing games as I am troubleshooting customers. I am allowed to do this as long as it doesn’t distract me from what I am doing, which it doesn’t. Not only do I bring home $700 a month just in my hourly rate, but I bring home an extra $500 + in commission per month as well. Did I say that I love my job? LOL. Charter gives away plasma tv’s , computers, and mp3 players like candy. I am one of the few people in this world who can honestly say that they love what they do. I work with fantastic people, make great money, and have the time of my life.

So when you say “shouldn’t you be working while you’re at work instead of viewing Etsy?”, my answer is “I AM working”.

It’s been a pretty uneventful day. I woke up around 9am and headed down to the craft store to buy some yarn. I bought 2 skeins, one is a solid yellow color which I believe is 100% wool, and another very pretty collage of purples which is 70% wool, 20% alpaca, 10% silk. The second I laid it out on my bed my doggies flocked over to it and started rubbing on the yarn. They are in love with wool. I can have my acrylic yarn out and they won’t touch it, but anything with wool is sure to have them coming for some lovin’. I have a little organizer thing in my closet and in one of my drawers I keep all of my yarn. I usually keep that drawer open because I’m always using it so one day I found my doggies digging in there trying to grab a hold of some yarn I wound into a ball. I love them to death.

I need some blog buddies, so feel free to comment here so I can add you guys to my blogroll. After reading in the Etsy forums earlier today I found a user who has a shop she features weekly on her blog so I thought that’d be a great idea! I figure it’s a good way to get peoples name out there so you can see what they have to offer. Etsy has so many different artists out there, it’s easy to get looked over. I have been a member of Etsy for almost a month now and only sold 1 item. I still have high hopes though. I am confident in my craft and I’m sure someone out there will enjoy my crochet lovlies.

Just Another Day

I decided to be a responsible adult and call into work today. My schedule totally messes with me. If I were off 2 days in a row I believe that I would have more energy. I am off Sunday and Tuesday so Monday is just “blah” for me. This is my first little 3 day weekend so I am pretty happy. Last night I crocheted a cute unisex cell cozy out of marron and grey yarn. I also decided it was time to play The Sims 2. I downloaded a whole bunch of stuff for it before I played and it didn’t show up on the game. I downloaded tons of new female hair and it didn’t show up, but the make up did which is weird. I can’t play The Sims without download objects….it’s just impossible for me.

I’ve been completely uninspired lately. I have no idea what to crochet & when I do have an idea and actually go through with it, the end result doesn’t turn out the way I hoped it would. I love all of my crocheted projects but I just wish it actually turned out the way I planned. I am currently in the process of making another bag out of this pretty fuschia wool yarn. The only part I dread is hand sewing the fabric on the inside. I need a sewing machine badly!

I was surfing youtube today and found this video of Nick Carter and Aaron Carter getting ready to fight. I used to have a huge crush on Nick Carter back when I was 10 years old beacuse I was obsessed with The Backstreet Boys. It was funny watching this video as well as the other episodes from House of Carters because to be quite honest, it makes me feel better about my own life. Yeah, I don’t have millions of dollars but I also don’t have all of the problems they have. Everyone does have issues, but to go around and try to fight your younger brother for no reason like Nick did with Aaron….that is just messed up. I crocheted a cute skinny scarf the other day and finally posted it on Etsy last night. I really wish I could make a sale. I need to go to the store and buy some yarn and make some cute stuff that will sell. Today was payday so I’ll be spending about $50 on yarn. It will be worth it though. This cutesy polymer clay cupcake necklace that I ordered from the lovely Yvette(http://sweetsurprises.etsy.com), arrived the other day. It is super cute! I’ll take a pic of it sometime for you guys!

I went to a craft store today to get some gift crap and such for the purchase I was to ship out today. While I was doing that I found some really spiffy stuff. I bought some polymer clay and make a little donut and a cupcake. I bought an offwhite color and it looked really crappy after I baked it. Needless to say, no more offwhite. I thought sculpting these thinsg would be easy, but I was wrong! It’s actually pretty difficult, so props to those of you who continuiously surprise us with your polymer goodies.

My First Sale

EEK! I made my first sale today. I’m so happy. I told my mom and she laughed ’cause she was happy for me. I will be shipping it out tomorrow morning. I made a new purse today. It’s pretty cute. I will a pic down below. I am not sure how this blog works but I like the layout. I think it’s better that blogspot/blogger. Surprisingly, I haven’t seen anyone on Etsy with a Livejournal or Greatestjournal. I actually do have a Greatestjournal acct that I used mainly for making graphics and posting journals and such. I haven’t been on it for a very long time but that used to be my life. Now Etsy is going to be my life for a while, go figure.

I’m super excited. I’m trying to think of a theme for my shop, so far that isn’t going over too well. I suck at coming up with themes so if you guys have any ideas please do tell! I actually bought some knitting needles the other day hoping to learn to knit but I was completely baffled and I think I’m going to take the needles back to Wal-Mart. I got the ones that are connected but a plastic wire thing and it confused me and got tangled in the yarn. Knitting needles are expensive!

Work has been eating up all of my time. I’m not sure if you guys know, but I do work a full time job for Charter Communications. I go through training this week to learn the old billing system which is gonna suck at life. I love my job though. I sometimes bring my yarn to work and crochet while I’m sitting there. My job description: Sitting in a cubical playing games on the pc and troubleshooting peoples internet. Pretty simple, very fun, great pay. <3

Hi there!

Obviously, I am new to wordpress so I’ll just use this post to introduce myself. My name is Kelly. I am 19 years old and I live in Kentucky. The main use of this blog will be to display my crochet projects. I’ve only been crocheting for a year but I love it. I joined www.etsy.com and am planning to start selling some of my crochet goodies there once I get my debit card in the mail. It’s been a while since I opened up this bank account so hopefully they didn’t forget about me ::crosses fingers::

I work a full time job so finding time to crochet is hard, but I get the job done. I have unfinished projects right now that I need to work on. I am completely obsessed with accessories, mainly purses and wallets. I also scrapbook, draw, write poetry and make graphics. I almost wanted to go to school for graphic design but it’s more of a hobby than a profession. I am eager to learn to knit but I’m on a lazy streak right now so who knows when I’ll actually accompolish that goal.
